Information

Treasure No. 139.
The 1.8-meter-tall seated Bodhisattva statue has remained toward the Octagonal 9-story Stone Pgoda in Woljeongsa Temple until a recent date. The stone statue highlights its head part and its lower body is poorly weak and so, the whole structure is disproportionately built, giving an uncomfortable vibe.
This Seated Bodhisattva Statue is estimated to have been carved in early 11th century in the early days of the Goryeo Dynasty(918-1392).
The statue is a representative work which shows the features of the statues made in the Avatamska temples in the Goryeoe period and is also the valuable piece which sheds light on the Buddhism thought of the time.
