This Gwaneumbyeonsangtaenghwa , or an altar portrait of Buddha for Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva is said to have originated from Woljeongsa Temple for quite a long time, but the details for its holding history has not known. The painting of Buddha is displayed in the Woljeongsa Temple's Seongbo Museum.
The piece is a painting of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva who had been met with Sudhana Kumāra of giving him his hand-written teaching. The work is a rarity in that there is almost nothing that drew the appearance of incarnation of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva's own body like it among the paintings of Buddha of the late Joseon Dynasty. It is thought that it would be probably one of the 33 fold incarnations separately drawn on a one screen, each scene on each fold, given that the Gwaneumbyeonsangtaenghwa is a small and simple iconography.
