Currently, Woljeongsa Temple Seongbo Museum has two types of Bulryangmun that were written in different periods with regard Jungdae Shrine for Sakyamuni Buddha’s Sarira, and it is one of the books. Jungdae is the center of religion of Odaesan Mountain, and Shrine for Sakyamuni Buddha’s Sarira is a sacred place where Birojana Buddha or Dharma-kaya Buddha are permanently stationed. In addition, Bulryang literally means Buddha’s modality, but it is more like financial support aimed to permanently maintain a palatial residence or a Buddhist image. Odaesan Jungdae Bulryangmun contains records on reconstruction of Jungdae Shrine for Sakyamuni Buddha’s Sarira in late Joseon Dynasty in addition to ordinary Buddhists and Buddhist monks who were financial contributors. As it provides detailed information on ordinary Buddhists and nearby Buddhist temples that financially contributed to reconstructing Shrine for Sakyamuni Buddha’s Sarira in late Joseon Dynasty, it is considered as important data that help understand the history of the Buddhist temple at that time.
